Risk management analyses

All safety training for the petrochemical industry and other risky undertakings in the industrial sectors are aimed at safe working practices, guaranteeing safety for people, economic continuity, and preserving the reputation of the company. At each level people involved are taught to act effectively and bring the incident under control as soon as possible by taking the correct (control) measures.

The best way to achieve the most effective emergency response organization, is to start with an assessment on site. Our consultant will make a comprehensive assessment, looking at all facets, credible incident scenario’s, organizational structure, passive and active protection systems and other resources available to deal with those possible incidents. The consultant will interview key personnel about the available equipment, working practices and the reasonable scenarios the response team may have to deal with. The findings are detailed in a report, which will give recommendations to enhance the emergency organization. Regarding the training of personnel, the consultant will differentiate between the training that can be carried out onsite and the training which demands more specialized training simulators to be found at a recognized training centre.

Preplanning

Preplanning is crucial for identifying possible scenarios and risks posed to the personnel. Organizations should be fully prepared for all situations likely to be faced, including risk assessment and management of those risks, training of personnel to deal with those risks, and analysing and preparing for external threats to the organization. The assessments should take into account the complexities of outsourcing contracts, non-routine procedures and local aid capabilities.

The preplanning process ensures coordination between all departments and external agencies, such as Fire, Police, Medical and environmental service. A structured methodology is required to ensure that all areas have been addressed. The documentation will be used for future reference.
