Radiation detection and Monitoring

This programme deals with the use of portable radiation equipment and the correct interpretation of the readings. Includes the use of dose, dose tempo and contamination metering devices.

Aim & objectives
To be able to operate radiation metering devices apparatus and be able to interpret the readings.

Contents

Theoretical:

• basic understanding radiation, effects on the body, definitions of exposure limits, relationship between time distance and shielding
• basic understanding of suffocation and effect of too little or too much oxygen, oxygen measurement

Practical:

• be able to carry out measuring tasks with the various measuring devices
• be able to get reliable measurement and be able to interpret the reading
